LWVUS is planning a national day of action on April 29 calling attention to the need for fair redistricting. The goal is to have local or regional events including a wide mix of supporters.

Since the 19th amendment passed in 1920, various civil rights strides have been made to expand the right to vote and increase access to the ballot box. This event is aimed at reflecting upon these achievements and envisioning a future where we can all work together to make sure our democracy remains strong and inclusive.

Wouldn’t everyone like to live in a prosperous, innovative, equitable, resilient, and sustainable region that increases mobility choices by investing in a safe and modern transportation system; that protects and preserves our natural resources while creating healthy communities; and that fosters greater opportunities for all?

This doesn’t happen by chance. Good planning is essential. Find out about the role of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission in our nine-county, bi-state area. Just what does Delaware County 2035, the Comprehensive Plan for Delaware County, PA, reveal to guide our future?  Finally, how does the Radnor Comprehensive Land Use Plan fit into the big picture?

During this Zoom workshop, we'll look at how LACRA values can be used in creating maps. We'll have the opportunity to look at the winning maps from our recent mapping contest and we'll invite community input through the comparison of maps and through suggesting alternatives.  We'll learn how to use analytic tools to compare maps and to recognize tradeoffs, constraints, and possibilities including racial equity and maximizing minority voices.   We'll use breakout rooms to begin community mapping conversations on a local level.
