LWV of Radnor Township Local Positions 2021-2022*
1. Land Use: We shall continue to monitor and examine all activities in the Township pertaining to zoning, planning, transfer and acquisition of land. We support the protection of open space and recreational land, and take action when appropriate.
2. Education: We will monitor, study, and take action on issues regarding the local public schools and the school boards. We support public meetings that are conducted in an open and transparent manner that promote civil discourse, encourage public comment and promote input in decision-making without fear of consequences. Decisions should be based on comprehensive study and a clear understanding of the issues and impacts. Financial reports and documents need to be accessible to the public in a timely manner, analyzed periodically to determine trends, shifts in allocation, and correlation with inflation and enrollment.
3. Local Fiscal Policy: We shall support openness of budget procedures, for self-supporting fees and licenses, and for tight financial accountability. We support an equitable distribution of tax burden.
4. Environmental Quality: We support protection of the environment that includes adequate air, ground, and water quality measures, flood plain controls, recycling programs, quality of life issues, and methods to increase citizen participation and education in those areas. We support and will take action for and increase awareness of household hazardous waste collection.
5. Recreation Programs and Facilities: We continue to support a year-round recreation program for all age groups under a professionally qualified, full-time director. We will encourage more publicity, better use of recreational resources, and, when appropriate, self-supporting programs. We will take action to support the increase and improvement of both passive and active recreational facilities as needed. We support volunteer initiatives aimed at improving Township park and recreation facilities.
6. Local Government: We will take action and support positions on openness of governmental proceedings. We expect high standards of professionalism and individual accountability in all the functions of the Township, including personnel practices, as stated in the Radnor Home Rule Charter. We advocate periodic review of the Home Rule Charter.
7. Senior Citizens: We continue to support and take action on the programs and facilities available to older citizens, with special attention to health, housing, recreation, and transportation needs, and to political empowerment.
8. Redistricting: In drawing local ward lines, we support greater public oversight through the use of independent observers at all meetings or the appointment of a non-partisan commission to make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners for consideration.
The League of Women Voters of Radnor Township reviews and updates, if necessary, these local positions on an annual basis at our January General Membership Meeting. All members are encouraged to attend and participate in this process.

They are revisited for revision every other year at the national convention. The next national convention will be held on June 23-26, 2022 as a hybrid event -- virtually, and in-person in Denver, Colorado. All LWVUS members (which includes all LWVRT members) are welcome to attend. Delegates will be chosen by the LWVRT board, most likely at one of our spring 2022 board meetings.

They are revisited for revision every other year at the state convention. The most recent state convention was held virtually, June 18-19, 2021 and the next will be held at some point in 2023. All LWVPA members (which includes all LWVRT members) are welcome to attend. Delegates will be chosen by the LWVRT board, most likely at one of our 2023 spring board meetings.
